Advanced FTIR R&D applications required most of the time broader spectral range than the standard mid Infrared region from 4000 cm-1 to 400 cm-1. To extend spectral range, optical components, such as sources, beam splitters, and detectors must be exchanged. From far IR (15 cm-1), through mid-IR, near IR to VIS/UV range (28,000 cm-1), 4 sources, up to three beam splitters, and at least 4 detectors must be combined. Till now, users must manually exchange at least one of these components to cover the complete range. The next generation FTIR instruments should realize a higher level of automation and further simplify the operation.
Bruker’s INVENIO X advanced FTIR R&D spectrometer combines innovative high precision INTEGRALTM interferometer with integrated 3x beam splitter changer and the pioneering MultiTectTM 5x detector technology. Together with 2 internal and 2 external automatic sources, the full spectral range spectroscopy will be a fully automated task using INVENIO X.
