Multi-point temperature sensing using optical fiber has numerous benefits over conventional temperature sensors such as high multiplexing, intrinsic safety and immunity to magnetic or electromagnetic fields. However, the technology has been previously unsuitable for most cryogenic applications because of its low sensitivity at cold temperature. Proximion has solved this issue by developing WISTCryo, a specialised temperature sensing array that has good sensitivity in cryogenic applications.
The technology has found application in LNG and liquid hydrogen processing and storage monitoring applications. We are exploring the suitability to liquid helium applications.
