Proximion introduces a new application for its optical fiber sensing technology in the chemical process industry. In many chemical reactors, a combination of gases and liquids flow through a column packed with ceramic pellets coated with a catalyst. The catalysts create exothermic reactions which release heat and monitoring these reactions can lead to improvements in efficiency and process controls. However, conventional monitoring methods are cumbersome and ineffective.
Proximion’s fiberoptic sensing provides the solution, as had been proven through a collaboration with the Research Institute of Sweden where a biofuel reactor was successfully instrumented, and valuable measurements were obtained and analysed.
