Key Responsibilities:
As an external Technical Assessor, you will play a crucial role in the UKAS assessment process, providing expert knowledge and ensuring rigorous, quality-driven assessments. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your extensive experience and work collaboratively within a respected Internationally recognised accreditation body.
We are seeking individuals with experience in any of the following areas:
• Optical Measurements: Specialised knowledge of optical calibration involving filters, bulk materials, liquids, reflective tiles, lenses, light sources (tungsten, LEDs), lasers, fibre optics, and other relevant devices.
• Fibre Optic Devices: Full awareness of challenges related to different wavelengths, including experience with fibre optic lenses, light sources, connectors, and joints.
• Laser Calibration: Understanding of various laser types, associated hazards, and practical calibration techniques.
• Optical Device Applications: Knowledge in related fields such as spectrophotometry, refractometry, photometry, and ophthalmology.
Additional Desirable Skills:
• Familiarity with data transfer and modulation techniques for fibre optics.
• Hands-on experience in fibre optic connections and assembly.
• Awareness of quality management systems and their application in a laboratory environment.
Required Experience:
• Proven experience in optical and/or fibreoptic calibration or testing within a measurement laboratory or similar environment.
• Practical expertise across one or more optical calibration branches, such as spectrophotometry, refractometry, colourimetry, lasers, or photometry.
• Experience working with quality systems is advantageous but not essential.
If you’re passionate about optical calibration and want to contribute your knowledge as a trusted assessor, we would love to hear from you.
