Speaker | Andy Evans

Andy Evans has been working in lab sustainability since 2009 and since 2015 he’s ran Green Light laboratories Limited.  Andy has a notable list of laboratory clients which is dominated by  Russell Group universities, including Imperial College, Bristol, Birmingham, Oxford and Warwick. He also works with procurement consortia, private sector laboratories and high-profile manufacturers of lab equipment based in the UK and overseas. 
He’s also currently working with government-appointed agents to write the testing standards for energy and temperature performance in cold storage, and when travel restrictions are finally lifted, he’ll be off to advise clients in Europe and the US.

Speaker | Matthew Bennett

Matthew has been working at the University of East Anglia in technical roles since 2009, his current position is Laboratory Coordinator. Matthew began making sustainability improvements locally in his own lab in 2013 before leading University wide projects via secondment to the sustainability team. He has worked with commercial partners to create sustainable products for the laboratory and is an active member of both the Higher Education technician and sustainable labs communities.

Speaker | Anna Lewis

Anna is the Sustainable Science Manager at the University of Bristol and co-founder of the Laboratory Efficiency Action Network. At Bristol, she coordinates the LEAF programme, and manages energy efficiency and circular economy projects within science buildings.

Speaker | Jiteen Ahmed

Jiteen Ahmed is the Head of Technical Services and has worked at Aston University for over 20 years, during this time, Jiteen has provided support for teaching and research laboratories which has resulted in being a named author in a couple of research papers and being named as an inventor on a patent. Jiteen is also the University Radiological Safety Advisor and Radiation Protection Supervisor at Aston University.

Externally, Jiteen represents Aston University at the Midlands Innovations Technical Manager group and at the Southern University Purchasing Consortia (SUPC) Laboratory Group of which he is the Chair of the Laboratory group. Jiteen is also the Chair of the STEMed National Procurement group and is an advisor for Lab Innovations. Recently, Jiteen became one of the commissioners for the TALENT National Policy Commission.

Jiteen is a member of the Institute of Safety in Technology and Research, Royal Society of Chemistry, Association of University Radiation Protection Officers, Technical Managers in Universities and University Bioscience Managers Association.

 

Jiteen is a champion for the Technician Commitment for the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University and is very passionate about the Technician Commitment and its impact of the technical staff at Aston University.
