Q) What is the Solo™ S

A) The Solo™ S is a Type 1 water purification system with re-usable cartridges, this eliminates customers’ plastic cartridge waste disposal, delivering up to 90% reduction in carbon emissions.

Q) Why was the Solo™ S developed?

A) With standard water purification systems, cartridges are changed typically every 6 months, creating on average 4-8kg of plastic waste per unit per year that goes directly to landfill. The cartridges are not generally recycled as their construction results in it being very hard to separate the plastic from the purification media contained within.

Avidity Science decided to develop a new system, which allowed the cartridges to be reused up to 6 times and then recycled.

Q) How does the re-use of cartridges work?
A) The revolutionary cartridge design with no glue or welding allows for complete separation of the internal media from the outer housing, this allows for the cartridge to be emptied, cleaned, tested and refilled for reuse.

When the cartridges are ready to be changed, they are sent back to a dedicated Avidity Science hub through the AvRecycle™ scheme.

Q) What other environmental benefits does the Solo™ S provide?
A) The Solo™ S switches to energy saving mode after a period of inactivity, reducing energy consumption. The Solo™ S has mercury-free bacteria control LED UV as an option, eliminating the downstream challenge of dealing with mercury waste, plus a revolutionary pump design and reverse osmosis membrane flow path that maintains water quality with reduced energy and water consumption.

Q) What kind of water purification system is the Solo™ S?
A) It creates Ultrapure water directly from tap water, producing up to 10 litres a day.
