Laurie’s application included details on his on account of outstanding contributions to research and enterprise. His expertise has underpinned successful research resulting in some 170 publications and led to grant awards. He makes remarkable contributions that go beyond the generation of high-quality data. He plays key roles in training of staff and students and has been unfailingly helpful to colleagues challenged by floods, freezer breakdowns, and rescuing valuable samples and documents.
